Election Monitoring and Voter & Civic Education Program
KF strengthens electoral integrity—monitoring elections and promoting voter and civic education for transparent, accountable democratic participation.
Election Monitoring and Voter & Civic Education Program
Free, fair, and credible elections are fundamental prerequisites for establishing democracy and ensuring good governance. A transparent electoral process not only reflects the will of the people but also strengthens public trust in democratic institutions. Recognizing this, KF places democracy and good governance at the core of its mission and works actively to promote electoral integrity in Bangladesh.
Against a backdrop of political polarization, electoral violence, and limited civic awareness, KF's Election Monitoring and Voter & Civic Education Program was designed to strengthen democratic practices by fostering informed participation, accountability, and transparency throughout the electoral cycle—before, during, and after elections.
Objectives
Building on this commitment, the program pursues the following objectives:
To support efforts that strengthen democratic processes and institutions, and to contribute to elections that meet international standards—free, fair, transparent, peaceful, and credible.
To conduct long-term and short-term election observation at local, national, and international levels, ensuring accountability of candidates and institutions, with special emphasis on the participation of women and minority groups as observers and stakeholders.
To implement voter and civic education programs that enhance citizens' understanding of their rights and responsibilities, while advocating for greater transparency in electoral and political processes.
To help mitigate political and electoral violence through awareness-raising, civic engagement, and inclusive dialogue.
Work Modality
To achieve these objectives, KF adopts a comprehensive and participatory implementation approach that spans the entire electoral cycle. The program's key modalities include:
Pre- and Post-Election Surveys
Surveys and exit polls to assess electoral conditions and public perceptions.
Voter List Audits
Ensuring accuracy, inclusiveness, and credibility of registration processes.
