Strengthening Grassroots Democracy through Capacity Building of Union Parishad Representatives
The project aimed to improve good governance at the grassroots level by strengthening the
capacity, awareness, and participation of Union Parishad (UP) Chairmen, Members, Secretaries,
and elected women representatives. The initiative focused on enhancing knowledge about their
rights, duties, responsibilities, planning, development activities, and democratic practices to
support effective local governance.
The program was initiated by Khan Foundation in collaboration with LGED through training
sessions, meetings, discussions, and workshops designed to empower local government
representatives and promote grassroots democracy.
