Dr Md Zahedul Hassan

Dr. Md. Zahedul Hassan is a distinguished Bangladeshi nuclear scientist, energy expert, researcher and senior executive with extensive experience in nuclear power development, project management, scientific research and technology infrastructure. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited (NPCBL). He holds a Ph.D. in Energy from Saga University, Japan, and both an M.Sc. and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Physics from the University of Dhaka. During his long career at the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC), he served in various scientific and leadership positions, including Chief Scientific Officer, and played a significant role in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project as Project Director. His contributions include nuclear energy planning, project implementation, contract negotiations, regulatory activities, infrastructure development and the preparation of technical and safety-related documents for nuclear power projects. Dr. Hassan has also contributed significantly to academia and scientific research. He served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Dhaka from 2013 to 2016, teaching Reactor Physics. His research interests include statistical physics, reactor physics, complex network theory, stochastic fractals and particle aggregation. He has authored more than 50 research articles in national and international journals and supervised over 50 M.Sc. and Ph.D. researchers at various public universities in Bangladesh. With his multidisciplinary expertise in nuclear science, energy planning, information technology and project management, Dr. Hassan has made substantial contributions to Bangladesh's nuclear energy development, scientific advancement and technological capacity-building.
