Ensuring transparency and accountability is fundamental to building good governance and a corruption-free society. Recognizing this, KF has been actively working to promote integrity, accountability, and democratic values across public institutions. To expand and strengthen its role in governance reform, KF initiated the programme "Promoting Governance, Accountability, Transparency and Integrity."
Through this programme, KF seeks to address systemic corruption, enhance citizen engagement, and foster responsive and transparent public service delivery. By empowering civil society and encouraging citizen oversight, the initiative contributes to strengthening democratic governance from the grassroots to the national level.
Objectives
Aligned with its broader governance mission, the programme aims to achieve the following objectives:
To strengthen and sustain genuine representative democracy from local to central government by nurturing a democratic culture throughout the country;
To combat corruption, reinforce democratic practices, and promote decentralization by ensuring the effective functioning of public service sectors;
To promote transparency, accountability, and efficient governance through active, informed, and collective citizen engagement.
Together, these objectives guide KF's efforts to create accountable institutions and an empowered citizenry capable of demanding good governance.
Work Modality
To translate its objectives into measurable impact, KF adopts a comprehensive and participatory implementation approach. This includes capacity development, advocacy, and citizen-led monitoring mechanisms. Key modalities include:
Development of training modules and campaign guidelines;
Capacity-building trainings and lesson-learned workshops;
Issue-based campaigns and awareness programmes, including national and international day observations;
Sharing meetings and dialogues with government officials;
Formation of forums and networks to strengthen collective action;
Practice and promotion of citizen monitoring tools, such as community scorecards;
Development and dissemination of IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials.
Through these interconnected methods, KF ensures that knowledge generation, citizen participation, and policy engagement reinforce one another.
